Cure for Motor Neurone Disease may be Possible After Stem Cell Breakthrough

In a breakthrough that could lead to a cure for the illness, Scottish researchers have for the first time created brain cells bearing a deadly genetic mutation linked to motor neurone disease in an Edinburgh laboratory.

The stem-cell innovation marks the first significant step in a new offensive against the devastating condition whose victims include the celebrated astrophysicist Professor Stephen Hawking.
