Born with a congenital heart defect, six year old girl, Mia Robson, of Northfield Road, underwent open heart surgery at the Leeds General Infirmary at the tender age of two.
Since then, she has undergone several open heart surgeries at the unit with the most recent one in April.Though she may not need any further surgeries till her teens , Mia and her family have joined the fight to save the heart unit at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) from closure. “Mia has been a regular visitor at the unit since before she was born. They looked after her so well there and after her last operation she spent three months saying ‘I want to go back to hospital because it was so nice’,” said care home assistant Emma.
