The Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) will organise an international buyer-seller meet focused at herbal and Ayurveda products at Jehan Numa Palace Hotel in Bhopal during the 5th World Ayurveda Congress from December 9 to 10.
According to sources from Pharmexcil, unlike the earlier buyer-seller meets, this meet is going to cover exclusively a wide range of Indian traditional medicinal products and extracts available in the country.
As India is already placed as the second largest exporter of Herbals in the world, the efforts of the council are aimed at capturing the top position in the list of herbal and ayurvedic exporters. At present China is heading the list of top exporters of herbal products in the world.
“India is very strong in herbals and ayurvedic products and our aim is to improve exports on par with the Chinese. If we can grow at a rate of 20 per cent per annum, I am sure we will beat China in the next few years. At present our efforts are to promote our products and capture the potential global markets,” said Dr P V Appaji, DG, Pharmexcil.
Most popular and traditional Indian medicinal products exported to different countries include Ayurveda products, value added products of medicinal plants, herbal products, dietary supplements, herbal extracts, essential and medicinal oils, nutraceuticals and functional foods.
As the event will have focused presentations on all the above mentioned herbal and ayurvedic related products, manufacturers and traders can utilise this opportunity of meeting with international buyers and sellers at the congress.
Sources from Pharmexcil informed that already 20 importers and distributors from across 12 countries viz., Bangladesh, Benin, Israel, Malaysia, Nigeria, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, USA, Uzbekistan, Philippines and Myanmar have already confirmed their participation in the meet.
“Many countries from across the world are looking at India for quality herbal products. So this will be an apt platform for our exporters and traders to build a good global network for building their business prospects,” informed Appaji.
