Turmeric Proven to Fight Diabetes…Again!

Research highlighting turmeric’s powerful health-boosting properties just seems to never cease, with some recent research showing yet again that the super spice can help to prevent diabetes risk thanks to the spice’s active compound curcumin. What’s more, the compound helps to prevent diabetes among those with prediabetes – indicated that extremely high blood sugar levels that could ultimately result in type 2 diabetes. Without a doubt, there is a clear connection between turmeric and diabetes.Published in the journal Diabetes Care, the study involved 240 Thai adults with prediabetes. The participants were divided into 2 groups, with one group taking curcumin capsules containing 250 milligrams of curcuminoids, while the other was given a placebo. After a 9 month period, it was found that 19 individuals of the 116-person placebo group developed type 2 diabetes, while none of the participants of the 199-person curcumin group developed the disease.
Turmeric and curcumin have been shown in previous research to also fight inflammation and oxidative damage – two processes which help a number of diseases to appear and develop, including type 2 diabetes. One study published in the journal Nutrition shows how turmeric normalizes insulin and triglyceride levels while boosting antioxidant defenses; keeping triglyceride and insulin levels low effectively reduces your risk for numerous health conditions like metabolic syndrome, heart disease, and – you guessed it – diabetes.
Conductor of the study published in the journal Nutrition, Shelia West, found that the levels of triglycerides, a type of fat, decreased by approximately a third in a meal prepared with spices. The decrease even occurred when oily sauces high in fat were present. The research shows how extremely simple dietary changes can have such a positive influence on health.
What’s also fantastic about turmeric spice is that it provides a large array of other health benefits. In addition to preventing and fighting diabetes, turmeric has also been shown to:
  • Rest among the most powerful of cancer-fighting foods.
  • Promote healthy fat loss.
  • Help detoxify the liver and promote liver health.
  • Cut heart disease risk.
  • Be a solution for skin issues such as acne.
What’s great about the implementation of turmeric is that the spice doesn’t come with the harsh side effects that tag along with historically-dangerous diet drugs. Instead of resorting to such drugs, try adding turmeric into your daily lifestyle by using turmeric in a number of different delicious ways.

Understanding the science of cannabis is integral to appropriate regulation and use

Cannabis is a plant with demonstrable antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, both aspects that point to its potential to be used as an anti-cancer drug. Cannabinoids have been used in tentative studies, demonstrating their ability to greatly reduce tumours, and cure cancer, in mice.
A controlled substance
The medical establishment continues to reinvent their justification for the demonization of marijuana as more and more of the claims made against cannabis are disproven. The justification currently holding the most ground is that cannabis is a plant, and cannot be carefully regulated because of the great chemical variability that is found between individual plants.
Of course, medications have to be carefully monitored when the substance being used is also a poison at a slightly higher dose, as the overwhelming majority of pharmaceuticals are. And while one could understand the desire to maintain the strict regulation standards, the fact is that attempts to fix the purity problem have severely reduced its medical potency, and process has no real benefit. Control doesn’t make the substance any safer because it isn’t dangerous in the first place. Its toxicity is comparable to water. Yes, an individual could make themselves feel very unwell if they surpass their stomach’s physical limits with any substance.

New Study Finds That Raw Garlic Cuts Lung Cancer Risk In Half

garlicA new study out of China has determined that people who consume raw garlic as a regular diet were 44% less likely to suffer from lung cancer.Researchers at the Jiangsu Provincial Centre for Disease Control surveyed the participants on their diet and lifestyle habits, including garlic consumption and whether or not they were smokers. Even among those who smoked, the garlic consumption reduced lung cancer risk by 30%. The study was published in the Journal Cancer Prevention research.Researchers believe that the benefits of raw garlic may be linked to a chemical called allicin, which is released once the garlic is either smashed or diced. This chemical is rumoured to not only reduce inflammation but also decrease the damage from free radicals to the body’s cells. The study used  the data of approximately 4,500 lung cancer patients and 4,500 healthy adults from 2003 to 2010. If you are looking to provide your body with a healthier environment, this is just one of the many health benefits raw garlic can provide you with. It’s time for human beings to make a change, and one of those changes includes the way we eat.
Cancer incidence rates continue to rise every year, according to the American Cancer Society. Males have approximately a 1 in 2 chance of developing cancer within their lifetime, and a 1 in 4 chance of dying from it. Women have a 1 in 3 chance of developing it and a 1 in 5 risk of dying from it.  We continue to search for a cure, while we forget to acknowledge the cause. We choose to surround ourselves with a bombardment of chemicals, GMOs, artificial sweeteners, harmful cosmetics, hazardous household products and more. Is it really a mystery that cancer rates continue to increase? Our eating habits as a whole tend to be extremely poor and we continue to ignore the amount of research that can render cancer lifeless. For example, here is a list of 20 medical studies that prove cannabis can be an effective treatment, and possible cure for cancer. Here, doctors at the University of Alberta discovered a cure for cancer, a substance that dramatically reduced tumors that has never seen proper attention from the medical industry due to its inability to generate a profit. The list goes on and on. The information shared in the video below is also something to ponder when thinking about both cancer and cancer cures. I am definitely open to the idea that certain cures are suppressed, and Kimberly Carter Gamble makes a good point in the video on that exact idea. At the end of the day it all comes down to making better choices in your life.

The Amazing Healing Properties of Rosewater For Beautiful Healthy Skin

rose-waterIn this day and age there are thousands of different skin care products available to choose from, Americans spend around 10 Billion dollars annually on skin care products, all of which claim to provide some sort of benefit.  These products can be quite expensive and more often than not, contain harsh chemicals. Many of these chemicals are easily absorbed into the skin and have cancer-causing properties. Why not eliminate as many of these products as possible? Each one of these is designed to treat a certain ‘problem,’ while it is probably creating another in its tracks. If these products were actually made to heal or provide the benefits that they are being marketed for, these companies wouldn’t make nearly as much money. So, maybe it is time that we looked into some safer, more simple and cheaper methods of skin care, such as rosewater.Rosewater is a concoction that is made of just that- roses and water, it is a by-product from distilling rose petals and water to make rose oil. It has been used as a beauty product for millennia. It has been found that Cleopatra enjoyed taking baths with many rose petals in the water, and making facial masks made from rose petals. Rosewater has been known for its many different healing properties for a very long time, particularly when it comes to skin care.Rosewater helps to maintain the skins natural ph. balance, which can guard against various diseases and eczema. Rosewater is wonderful because it is very versatile and can be used to treat dry wrinkled skin to oily acne prone skin.  It prevents aging by tightening skin pores and even reducing wrinkles! Rosewater is also extremely hydrating so it works great as a moisturizer. This amazing concoction also has anti-septic properties and makes a great cleanser, removing oil, dirt and other contaminants that reside deep within the skins pores. All around this is a great all natural beauty product that can replace your cleanser, toner and moisturizer! You get all three in one. Although aside from skin care, this sweet smelling water has many other health benefits. There are many products on the market that contain rosewater, but make sure you watch out for fake products that contain artificial rose smell that are marketed as rosewater or rose oil. Your best option is to purchase these products from a health store, and make sure to read the ingredients on the labels. It is best to get all natural, plant-based (organic if possible) products, remember, what goes on your body goes in your body. Some of the products might be quite expensive, so alternatively, you can make your own. Rosewater extract is readily available and easy to find. To make your own cleansers you can start off with a base plain unscented cleanser such as Dr. Bronner’s or something similar and just add the rose water directly to this. After I wash my face, I take an organic cotton pad and soak it in a diluted mixture of rosewater extract and wipe it over my entire face, paying close attention to my eyes, leaving it on each eye a few moments longer. I don’t even bother to use moisturizer after this because I find my skin feels very soft and hydrated after this step, because the rosewater itself is extremely moisturizing.I should add, that rose oil is also extremely beneficial for the skin, and is most likely more potent because it is much more concentrated than rose water, however it is quite a bit more expensive and from my own personal experience the rosewater works very well anyways. I have watched many large pores and acne scars shrink, fine lines disappear and my skin becomes naturally softer and  vibrant looking. After I began using the rosewater I wondered where has this beautiful liquid been all my life? It leaves such a sweet smell behind as well.It is no wonder that this product has been used so much over the years, and the more advanced we are becoming the more we are realizing that sometimes it is better to go back to the basics, back to our history, it’s amazing how something so simple is much more beneficial.Watch this Video Link :

Ads That Warn of Drugs' Side Effects may Help Increase Its Sales

Ads That Warn of Drugs' Side Effects may Help Increase Its SalesA new study has revealed that rather than make people wary of purchasing them, drug ads that warn of serious side effects improves the customers' opinions and leads to increased sales, especially when there is a delay between seeing the ad and deciding to buy the product."Messages that warn consumers about potentially harmful side effects — presumably with the intent to nudge them to act more cautiously — can ironically backfire," says psychological scientist Ziv Carmon of INSEAD in Singapore.
Working with Yael Steinhart of Tel Aviv University and Yaacov Trope at New York University, Carmon has been exploring how adding a warning of potential side effects affects consumer decision making. Their new findings are published in the September 2013 issue of Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science.
"We were struck by just how detailed, clear, and scary many warnings had become with regard to potential negative side-effects of products," says Carmon. "It then occurred to us that such warnings might perversely boost rather than detract from the appeal of the risky product."
Carmon and colleagues tested their hypothesis in four experiments. In one experiment, for example, smokers saw an ad for a brand of cigarettes: one version of the ad included a warning that smoking causes lung cancer, heart disease, and emphysema, while another version did not include the warning.
Predictably, participants who had the opportunity to purchase the cigarettes soon after seeing the ad bought less if the ad they saw included the warning.
In contrast, participants who were given the opportunity to purchase the cigarettes a few days later bought more if the ad included the warning. The same outcome emerged when the researchers ran a similar experiment with ads for artificial sweeteners.
According to Carmon and his colleagues, the warnings backfired because the psychological distance created by the delay between exposure to the ad and the customer decision made the side effects seem abstract—participants came to see the warning as an indication of the firm's honesty and trustworthiness.
In fact, participants evaluated drugs for erectile dysfunction and hair loss that had potentially serious side effects more favorably, and as more trustworthy, when they were told the products weren't on the shelves yet.
While conventional wisdom suggests that explicit warnings about dangerous side effect will make people think twice before taking medical risks, these findings suggests otherwise. The researchers believe that their findings are important because these kinds of warnings are so ubiquitous, accompanying many different products or services beyond medications, including medical procedures, financial investments, and sporting activities.
Given how frequently we are exposed to such warnings, Carmon hopes to bring greater attention to their potential to backfire.
"This effect may fly under the radar since people who try to protect the public — regulatory agencies, for example — tend to test the impact of a warning shortly after consumers are exposed to it," says Carmon. "By doing so, they miss out on this worrisome delayed outcome."

Walnuts Keep Diabetes, Heart Diseases Away

A walnut-rich diet can protect overweight adults from diabetes and heart diseases, reveals new study.
Researchers from Yale University put a small group of adults on a walnut-enriched diet for two eight-week sessions.
For their research, scientists chose 46 adults between the ages of 30 and 75 who had a body mass index larger than 25 and a waist circumference exceeding 40 inches (102 cm) for men and 35 inches (89 cm) for women.

Walnuts Keep Diabetes, Heart Diseases AwayAll exhibited risk factors for metabolic syndrome, a precursor of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and none were smokers, the New York Daily News reported.
Participants were assigned to either a walnut-enriched ad libitum diet or an ad libitum diet without walnuts.
Those who followed the walnut diet were instructed to eat 56 g of shelled, unroasted walnuts a day as a snack or with a meal.
At the end of the experiments, scientists observed improved endothelial function in overweight adults who consumed walnuts.
Endothelial cells make up the inner lining of blood vessels and help with blood clotting and the formation of new blood cells, regulate inflammation and control blood pressure.
No participants in the walnut-eating group gained weight.
"Our theory is that if a highly nutritious, satiating food like walnuts is added to the diet, there are dual benefits: the benefits of that nutrient rich addition and removal of the less nutritious foods," lead author Dr. David Katz, said.
The study is published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition.

Humans Create Climate Change

Scientists are now very sure that global warming is a reality and we have only humans to blame for this occurrence.
Humans Create Climate Change A recent report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) seeks to underline the importance of sustainable action by policy makers and the public on climate change.
World Meteorological Organization Secretary General Michael Jarraud said, "It should serve as another wake-up call that our activities today will have a profound impact on society, not only for us, but for many generations to come."
The report talks about the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets that have been losing mass and about glaciers have begun to shrink. The international panel also looked at the link between extreme weather events and climate.
