Measures are underway to establish an Ayurveda Medical Centre, a Drug Collection Centre and an Ayurveda Pharmaceutical Sales Outlet at the cost of Rs one million in the Moneragala District to coincide with the Deyata Kirula Exhibition, said Ayurveda Pharmaceutical Corporation Chairman Somaweera Chandrasiri.
Enhancing the economy of farmers cultivating local medicinal plants, restriction of raw material imported for producing Ayurveda medicine and collecting them from particular areas are the main objectives of such collecting centres.
A communique issued said the Indigenous Medicine Ministry has planned to stop importing raw materials including ginger used in Ayurveda Medicine and hopes to obtain active participation of ancestral people in Dambana to get such materials provided, apart from the raw materials now being received from the North and the East with the ending of the war.
