The World Cancer Research fund (WCRF) said that more than 20,000 cases of braest cancer are caused annually in Britain due to poor lifestyle.
More than 47,600 cases of breast cancer were recorded in UK in 2008 and the WCRF estimates that over 40 percent of the cases could have been prevented had the women opted for good lifestyle choice.
According to the Preventability of cancer by Food, Nutrition and Physical Activity report released by WCRF, some of the good lifestyle choices including reducing the weight down to a healthy level, indulging in more physical activities and reducing alcohol consumption could drastically reduce the risk of breast cancer.
“It is very worrying that in the UK there are still tens of thousands of cases of breast cancer which could be prevented every year. Breast cancer can be prevented by cutting down on drinking, being more physically active and carrying less body fat”, WCRF deputy head of science, Dr Rachel Thompson said.
