Be Cautious While Befriending People on Social Networking Websites
It is better to excercise some caution before befriending people on social networking websites. This warning comes in the wake of a Sydney woman's claim that she was sexually assaulted by a man she met on a social networking website. The incident has prompted police to urge people using websites such as Facebook to be careful when dealing with strangers. Police say the 24-year-old from Minto, in Sydney's south-west, recently struck up a brief friendship with a man she met over the internet. She allowed him to spend a night in her lounge room but he allegedly entered her bedroom about 1am yesterday and sexually assaulted her. "Police are reminding all internet users to show extreme caution when befriending people via social networking sites and report any criminal activity," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted NSW Police as saying.
