In Vitro Fertilization Uncovers an Ally in Traditional Chinese Medicine

In Los Angeles,Thumos Health Center, a Pacific Palisades clinic specializing in traditional Chinese healing, has announced an expansion of its fertility and in vitro fertilization (IVF) therapy enhancement program. Its existing Pacific Palisades location will now be joined by new facilities in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica to help serve a rapidly expanding client base. The three locations give Thumos a growing regional presence in the field of fertility therapy, at a time when research has focused on the positive results of combining traditional Chinese medicine and modern fertility treatments including IVF."Though the traditional Chinese pharmacopeia is no absolute substitute for modern medicine, it has over the centuries discovered safe and effective therapies that naturally complement more technical approaches to the problem of infertility," says Bryan Abel of Thumos.A trained UC Berkeley biologist, Abel points out that emerging science suggests a link between some Eastern therapies and positive fertility results."Five thousand years of focus on reducing the physical effects of life's daily stresses while empowering the body's own natural defenses—result in insights which only now are being fully recognized outside of China proper."An increasing number of Los Angeles area medical specialists routinely integrate traditional therapies such as Thumos's with clinical fertility treatments. The result is that traditional Chinese medicine providers such as Abel are expanding their own practices to meet the needs of a growing—and typically upscale—clientele.According to Ganit Kriel, co-owner of Thumos, a typical traditional therapy regime includes an initial evaluation followed by a three to six month treatment plan incorporating acupuncture sessions, nutrition counseling and stress reduction training. All are designed to minimize factors known to adversely affect a couple's chances of achieving pregnancy.About Thumos Health Center: Besides fertility enhancement therapy Thumos and its licensed practitioners also treat allergies, immune deficiencies and various other health problems including digestion issues.
