US Teen School Student's 'Hiccupops' Promises to End Hiccups

Media reports indicate that a 13-year-old USA school student has developed the world's first lollipop that stops hiccups.
According to ABC's Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki, a hiccup happens when your diaphragm muscle contracts abruptly. You breathe in suddenly, and a little bit later, your vocal cords snap shut. This interrupts the airflow into your lungs, so giving the characteristic "hic" sound of the hiccup.

Dr. Francis M Fesmire was honoured with the IgNobel Prize in Medicine at a ceremony at Harvard in Boston in 2006 for the discovery that rectal massage or an orgasm can actually stop acute hiccups because the vagus nerve that runs the vocal cords is connected to our gut near our bottom.

Over stimulus of this nerve can relax the vocal cords which means a bit of bedroom action might be your answer to those pesky breathing problems.
However, Mallory Kievman has made an amalgamation of her three favourite hiccup cures - lollipops, apple cider vinegar and sugar to treat hiccups.
The treats called Hiccupops are said to trigger a set of nerves in your throat and mouth that are responsible for the hiccup reflex arc.
"It basically over-stimulates those nerves and cancels out the message to hiccup," News.com.au quoted her as telling The New York Times.
