Arogya Expo, wherein traditional Indian systems of healing will be showcased, was inaugurated here on Thursday at Palace Grounds.More than 300 papers will be presented in the expo. The event will host around 4,000 delegates and is expecting around five lakh visitors.Vijnana Bharti, Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) and state government are jointly organising the event. It will witness participation from companies across the country. There will be a detailed presentation on the relevance and importance of Ayurveda.“There will be a huge, grand home pavilion of AYUSH spread over a 1,00 square metre Expo area. Hence, the visitors will benefit from the demonstration of knowledge and Ayurvedic practices that India is proud of. The special highlight would be the Traditional Healer’s Meet,” said Ranjit Puranik, Chairman of fourth World Arogya Congress, Arogya Expo.At the inauguration, S A Ramadas, Minister for Medical Education, said this would provide platform to impart Ayurveda education to the masses. He said it was a major effort by India to show its strength and the miracles of Ayurveda to the world.He said Karnataka has rich natural resources and coastal Karnataka has abundance of marine products that are used in Ayurveda. He said farmers in the interior regions cultivate herbs like Ashwagandha and the government had liberalised rules on the cultivation of sandalwood in India. He said by the end of 2020, sandalwood would be a major production in India.The expo is providing free health check-up for the public. Eminent Vaidyas will be examining people by using the old method of Nadi-pariksha.It is used to understand the constitution and disease in a patient.
